This series depicts different ideas of what it is to be a woman in both non-traditional and traditional roles reimagined. “Run” portrays a woman in what is traditionally seen as men’s attire running for what was and often still is considered a man’s profession; political office. The mother in “Raise” is both literally raising a child, and figuratively raising up the next generation. The style of her dress is reminiscent of an earlier age, but her hair, expression and movement break free of the confines the patriarchy of that age imposes. The woman in “Roar” can be interpreted as a woman or a lioness roaring in her power.
